From the personal computer and mouse to the iPod, iPhone, and iPad, Steve revolutionized technology. With Pixar, he revolutionized the film industry. With the Apple Store, he revolutionized retail. With the iPod and iTunes, he revolutionized the music industry. With the iTunes store, he also revolutionized film sale and rentals, and TV series subscriptions. He invented fonts (did you know that??). He revolutionized marketing, product design, economics, and has made countless other impacts on various industries- more than you may have realized. He has made a huge impact on society and culture across the world. Some people have just about every product Apple has, but most people have at least one Apple product. Apple is arguably the only company where a person can literally name all of their products. Apple is an icon. Steve is an icon.
I had my first Apple Macintosh when I was in middle school. I ran that computer into the ground- I had it at least 10 years. I would later come to own an iPod mini, MacBook, iPod, iPhone, Apple TV, and a MacBook Pro. I have been a loyal Apple user for years and have watched the KeyNote each year, with Steve in his black shirt and blue jeans. Apple products, innovated by Steve, have been the way I've worked, learned, been entertained, and kept in touch with my family and friends for a large part of my life... and I don't know how I would ever survive without an Apple product.
Steve's innovations have impacted generations across the globe and will continue to impact culture and industry for generations to come. His death is a devastating loss and if he was well and lived past the young age of 56, who knows what else he could have accomplished and contributed to society and technology.
I rather not say "goodbye". I want to say... Thank you, Steve.
